Here’s what you do if you are lifting weights but you don’t care about building muscle....


Live in a calorie deficit most of the year.

Do random workouts or change the exercises every day.

Do combination exercises that are not enough mechanical tension for both your upper and lower body. If you are doing bicep curls and squats with the same weight I guarantee your leg muscle will remain small.

Don't put your muscles through their full range of motion in an exercise and always do partial reps.

Chase the burn or the pump! I get the burn in my shoulders when I try to plait my hair, I am NOT building muscle!

Never challenge yourself! Think using weights that are lighter than your handbag.

Ineffective exercise selection (spinning you wheels doing exercises that don't give you the result you hope for!

Don't track your lifts so you have no idea if you are progressing

Needing/Wanting to do cardio exercises between lifts! If you can/want to do burpees between sets, the weight is WAY TOO light!

Don't train close to failure, leave loads in the tank so you make little to no progress x
