How To Avoid Being Another January Exercise Statistic in 2025

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of using the New Year to reset yourself and your goals and aspirations. I also find in a very good time to reflect on what went well and what I would like to improve in the year ahead.

My concern is for the people who dive head first into very restrictive diets and over-the-top exercise schedules, like the start of a new year is also the time you have to punish yourself.

Let's face it we all know people (you might be one of them) who has crashed and burned by the time February starts.

If you really want to make a difference in your life with exercise, here's what I would suggest:

  • Prioritise Your Why. Understand how you want to feel, what you want to achieve and why it matters to YOU!
  • Set Realistic Goals. If you’re not working out at all, aim for 2-3 days a week, not 7!!! If your nutrition needs a glow up, focus on adding more veggies or drinking more water instead of cutting out entire food groups or everything that tastes remotely good.
  • Stop The All or Nothing Mentality. Aim for Imperfect Action. Life isn’t perfect, and your don't have to be to achieve your goals. Skipping one workout or indulging in a treat doesn’t mean you’ve failed and can hit the F It Bucket!!!
  • Build Habits.  Consistency beats intensity every time. Find what works for YOU. Maybe it’s hitting your step goal, a couple of gym sessions, or batch-cooking meals. The key is to create habits that feel doable long-term, not just for January!
  • Find Accountability. Share your goals with a friend, hire a coach, it's okay to ask for help and my job is to help you build habits and routines that work for you and your life. You can track your own progress either using an app or a log book but make sure you are tracking so you can see your own progress.

Make a promise to yourself that in 2025 you are going to give yourself a fighting chance to achieve the goals that will make you feel your best x
