Do You Feel Stuck In A Lose Weight - Gain Weight Cycle?

You are not alone and here's why!

No one is helping you to understand how to MAINTAIN your fat loss results!

This is a critical part of a fat loss phase. If you keep eating whatever you want at the end of your fat loss phase, you will be in a calorie surplus and start gaining weight. If you don't start eating enough at the end of your fat loss phase you will still be in a calorie deficit and keep losing weight!

Because most people don't understand how to maintain their results the dieting industry is worth billions of £!

I would be perfectly happy to support a client through a fat loss phase, teach them how to maintain their results and then see them go on their own and never have to do a fat loss phase again. They achieved their results, can maintain them. It's a WIN-WIN for both of us.

I value my sense of achievement and satisfaction helping my clients achieve their results and maintain them for life over taking their money and keeping them in the dark about maintenance.

Here's a list of things you need to do at the end of your fat loss phase to MAINTAN your results!

  • Increase your calories up to your predicted new maintenance calories. This might be adding in 200-500 calories per day.
  • Understand that with increased food comes increased weight (this is not body fat!). You can't keep eating at your calorie deficit calories forever, that's not healthy! So, eat at your predicted maintenance for a week and when your weight stabilises after that time, this is your TRUE maintenance
  • Maintenance is a range. It is NOT your lowest weight at the end of the diet! So agree with yourself or your coach a range you are happy to go up to. I like to say to my clients it shouldn't take you more than 6 weeks to get back to the weight you were at the start of your TRUE Maintenance (again, not your lowest weight ever!)
  • Change from diet foods to full fat versions like low fat cheese and yogurt etc
  • Keep you daily movement the same, if you start moving less you will use less energy = increase body fat and weight
  • Keep doing your workouts, the comment above applies to this too
  • Maintenance is still about mindful eating, this is not a time to get sloppy and start eating all the food, all the time. You have more food freedom but it's not an all you can eat buffet, sadly!
  • I encourage my clients to continue weighing themselves and or tracking for a month after they end their fat loss phase. It's almost more important than the fat loss phase because this is where most people undo all their hard work, what a shame.
  • Your diet is only successful if you never have to do it again (if you get pregnant is one clear exception to this) but you get my drift here. DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT, NEVER DO IT AGAIN is my motto!
Please understand this about Weight Watchers/Slimming World and some dieting programmes.
  • Their business models are built on you not maintaining your results. They need people to keep coming back to do their programmes or they won't make money!!!
  • If you use a company or product that does not discuss at the start how you are going to maintain your results once you achieve them, please ask them for this information before you give them your money!
  • If there is no protocol to help you maintain your results, you get to decide if you still want to go ahead and pay them. Understand you could quite easily become one of the millions of people stuck in a cycle of lose weight - gain weight always thinking it's you and your body at fault, when it's not x
