Are Women In Perimenopause/Menopause Being Exploited?
A Personal
Trainer building an exercise, and nutrition programme for a woman should always
consider your age, health and fitness history, lifestyle, responsibilities etc.
The exercise plan should always be built around your particular set of circumstances.
That doesn’t change because you are a certain age.
I will say
that resistance training is very valuable for many reasons, but you also need
good cardiovascular health.
Menopause is
a hormone deficiency. When your hormone balance is restored, life can feel a whole
lot better, trust me!
What is very
important is that you speak to your GP to help manage any symptoms you may be
experiencing. Understanding your full
medical history will allow them to make an informed unbiased decision about the
right course of action for you. You don’t have to start HRT immediately, you
can take the advice, think about it and then decide if it’s right for you.
Do your own
research on symptoms and health advice. Whilst there are now a number of online
medical professionals specialising in Perimenopause and Menopause, they can
have a bias towards certain products and resources, and it’s not always based
on current up to date evidence. Please be careful where you get your
information from.
If you are
having symptoms and not currently getting any advice, please speak to your GP.
